What pops into your mind when you think of Twinkies?

When I think of Twinkies, I think of my childhood. My grandma used to keep a stock of Twinkies for me and my sister. We spent so much time at their house. She’d put a Twinkie in a bowl of ice cream and cover it with chocolate sauce or she’d put a Twinkie in a bowl and cover it with maraschino cherries along the juice… OhMyGosh that was my favorite.

My kids love Twinkies but we’re boring. The fanciest thing we do with Twinkies is throw some strawberries and whipped cream over the top for a make-shift strawberry shortcake haha.

Did you know that Hostess has produced 500 million Twinkies each year up until the Twinkies were pulled off the shelves, and now the demand for Twinkies has grown faster than ever since they’ve been back!?! I have a feeling people think that Twinkies might go away again and they’re deathly afraid of being without Twinkies [again] haha.

Twinkie Cookbook Comeback Edition!

The next chapter of Twinkies history is about to begin! Hostess fans can submit their Twinkie recipe ideas at HostessCakes.com for a chance to be included in the new comeback edition of The Twinkies Cookbook! The deadline for submission is July 31, 2014. Wouldn’t it be so cool to be featured in the new edition of The Twinkies Cookbook!?!

I decided to make Twinkie Banana Puddin’ Cake!

Twinkie Banana Puddin’ Cake

So I’m guessing that you’ve read this far because you want to check out my Twinkie Banana Puddin’ Cake recipe? And just to be clear. My hubby is from the south and can’t (or refuses) to say puddING. It’s all puddin’ to him. This Twinkie Banana Puddin’ Cake recipe is super easy because it’s one of those that you can’t mess up. You can throw it all into a dish and it will turn out perfect no matter how you layer it!

Ingredients:

Twinkies (the amount depends on the size dish/pan you use. Banana pudding (again, the amount will depend on the size dish/pan you use) Bananas Graham cracker pie crust. Directions:

Whether you make your graham cracker crust or buy it pre-made, put that down first as the first layer. Next, spread a layer of banana pudding. I cut the Twinkies in bite sized pieces and layered those along with banana slices. I then spread banana pudding on top. On the very top, I spread Cool Whip and then I sprinkled a graham cracker crust dusting on top. Chill in the freezer or fridge. For this recipe, I used a small pan, an 8 X 8 size. I used 2 packets of pudding that I made the night before and I used 2 bananas. I used about 4 Twinkies.
