We’re always on the look out for the next best gadget. Whether it’s the latest android, iPod, newest iPhone or tablet… we feel like we need it. In fact, in the last year or so, we’ve had three netbooks, two tablets and a few androids too. Unfortunately, we ended up not liking them so we sold them within a few months. We’re crazy, I know this.
Well, now we can add the Google Nexus 7 Tablet to our list. Staples sent me this tablet to review. The Google Nexus 7 Tablet is a really great tablet because it’s really durable, has 16 GB (or 32 GB available) and has an awesome new processor called the Qualcomm Snapdragon. It’s loaded with a bunch of Google apps, has a great front & rear facing camera to take pictures and videos and also has a 10 hour battery too.
Let me give you a run down of the features…

I set Mike up on the Nexus 7 Tablet, he’s pretty much taken it over. He’s been using a lot of social media apps and also his Dragon voice recognition app because he’s a writer.
The display is fantastic, so clear and bright! I also love the anti-fingerprint technology. With as much as we use the tablet, it’s awesome that the screen is so durable. Gracie uses it for Netflix before bed at night and I hop on it during the daytime, if Mike leaves it home. The 7” screen is perfect, not too small.
Mike has been playing with the camera a lot and he’s loving the great quality of the photos. He even joined Instagram haha. Show him some love and follow him at Redsoxfan_69… his page is looking a little sad haha. He’s happy to be following his teams and players though. I can only imagine what kind of pictures he’s going to end up posting though… he’s quite a jokester. Here’s a couple I took:
The built-in microphone and speakers is really coming in handy. Mike watches Netflix on his layovers (he’s a driver) and Gracie does too. He also uses the voice recognition app so in the middle of the day when he’s on the go, he can record his thoughts quickly.
The 16 GB is really proving to be a lot of space. We’ve downloaded a ton of apps, he’s taken lots of pictures and videos and he’s hardly even touched any of the available 16 GB yet. Although the Nexus 7 Tablet is available in a 32 GB, I really don’t see him needing that much space. If it was mine, maybe I would though… not sure.
We’re actually pretty impressed with how awesome the battery life is too. When fully charged it’s supposed to last about 10 hours. We haven’t kept track, but when it’s fully charged, we don’t have to charge it again for quite a few days. Love that!
For a guy who is the least tech-savvy guy ever – he’s really enjoying his new tablet. He’s making his way through a lot of social media apps that he wasn’t involved with before and It’s working out really great for him. I’d love to get the 3 older kids this tablet for Christmas!
Head over to Staples and check out the Nexux 7 Tablet. It can be purchased currently for $229.00.
