I’ve been a STI Test Drive Blogger for a couple of years now and really enjoy test driving the different cars they have to offer. I’ve become most familiar with Kia and that is probably why it’s become one of our favorites around here. Each new Kia we get to test drive, Mike swears up and down that we are going to buy it haha. We loved size and luxury of the 2012 Kia Sorento and the Kia Rio I decided was the perfect car for my two teen drivers to share. It is smaller but has all of the bells and whistles that makes it a really great car for young drivers. Our absolutely favorite was the Kia Optima Hybrid. So elegant, yet so sporty . That’s the one Mike won’t stop talking about… until this past week, that is.
We received the 2014 Kia Sorento SX AWD to test drive.
Some of the 2014 Kia Sorento SX AWD Features:
- 3.3L V6 Engine
- 6-Speed Automatic Transmission w/Sportmatic
- EPA-estimated mileage city/highway (mpg): 18/24
- 8”Display Navigation System with Backup Warning System
- Blind Spot Detection System
- FlexSteer Driver-Selectable Steering Assist (Standard, Sport or Comfort Modes)
- Keyless Entry
- Push-Button Start with Smart Key
- Ventilated and Heated Front Seats
- Panoramic Roof with Power Sun Shade
Of course, these are just some of my favorite features… there are so many more great ones.
Mike and I both love the size and luxury of the 2014 Kia Sorento, it’s really a beautiful car.
Mike’s favorite feature in the 2012 Kia Sorento was the steering feature. You can choose from Standard, Sport or Comfort Mode – the selector is on the steering wheel. I actually did not try these out and just drove it in Comfort Mode. Mike liked the Sport Mode best and said that fit his style of driving best.
This particular Sorento does not have the 3rd row of seating that the 2012 Kia Sorento did, however, in place of the 3rd row seating is the “Under-Rear-Cargo Floor Storage” area. Maybe it’s silly to be so excited about this feature but I was. I LOVED this storage area! Mike and I went grocery shopping with Baby Jack and Gracie and filled up that whole area beneath that double stroller you see below! Grocery shopping for a family of 8 can get a little difficult when you have your car packed with car seats, strollers, kids and other stuff. Needless to say, we had plenty of room for our groceries.
And speaking of room… we were able to fit Gracie and Jack’s car seats in the back and one of my teen girls sat in the middle, between the car seats.
Of course, I do love this panoramic sunroof – it goes the whole length of the car!
A couple of other features I really loved with the heated and air conditioned seats. We’ve had some toasty weather here in Chicago so the air conditioned seats were great! I also love the blind spot indicator that flashes in the side mirrors when you turn on your turn signal. It lets you know if there is someone in your blind spot. I think this feature along with the Backup Warning System – GREAT safety features to have on a vehicle! Especially if you have two teens in your household learning to drive!
Overall, we loved the 2014 Kia Sorento SX AWD and would recommend it for sure. If I had my choice, the only think I would want included with this vehicle is the 3rd row – even though I did really love the extra storage area.
The 2014 Kia Sorento SX AWD you see here is approximately $36,800.00.
Have you driven a Kia?
