Ready to hear about the end of our vacation?
If you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to read all about or week on Sanibel Island, Florida or our Not-So-Magical Visit to Disney. It was one heckuva vacation so arriving in Mount Dora, Florida was a huge blessing and we very much needed the relaxation time before heading back in the car for the trip up to Illinois.
Mount Dora, Florida
The town of Mount Dora is actually a pretty big town located about an hour northwest of Orlando, but the downtown historic village area is so charming and quaint. The Historic Downtown Village is within walking distance from the Mount Dora Historic Inn and Cottages, which is perfect. It’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world. Just driving through heading to our cottage, we were in awe. I just kept on saying, ‘this is so cute!’
Mount Dora Historic Inn B & B and Cottages
Mount Dora Historic Inn B & B is a quiet place to relax and would be perfect for a romantic getaway. The cottages are more private and spacious than the B & B and are equipped just like a home would be with full kitchens, family rooms with cable TV, private bedrooms and bathrooms and outdoor porches. There are ten cottages to chose from and all are located within just a couple blocks from the historic downtown area.
Isn’t it cute?!?
Our Stay at Mount Dora Historic Inn Cottage
We arrived at the Mount Dora Historic Inn and received our keys to the Nantucket Cottage we were going to be staying in. We drove a couple of blocks and found our cottage. We stayed in the bottom and the top was rented to another family.
We got settled right away and then headed out to go grocery shopping at a local Walmart. It was so nice to have the full size kitchen. We bought enough groceries for breakfast, lunch and dinner while we were staying a few days at Mount Dora.
There was a little bedroom with a sofa and a pull out bed, perfect for Gracie!
Although… Gracie really loved our bed haha.
As soon as we were finished shopping and dinner was over, we headed out to walk around the town. We found lots of boutiques, tons of spas, fine dining restaurants and little sidewalk café’s and even some fun activities like boat tours and canoeing. One day we tried out an ice cream shop and another day we tried out a cupcake shop. We really enjoyed walking the downtown area each day we stayed.
We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Mount Dora Historic Inn cottage. We had been so, so busy for the two weeks prior to stopping in Mount Dora that we really needed this relaxing time to wind down and get ready for our drive back up to Illinois.
The cottage was so comfortable and homey and had exactly what we needed. Mike and Gracie had their cable TV and I had my WiFi. We had a full size kitchen to cook breakfast, lunch and dinners and a million pots of coffee haha because we’re crazy like that.
The town was perfect to walk through and we didn’t want to leave. We even loved looking at the homes for sale at the real estate agencies while we were walking… and we talked about how nice it would be to live there.
As you can see, Baby Jack has no complaints!
