Breastfeeding at 7 Months: Update

Tuesday's Tastes

April from Mama on a Green Mission and Courtney from Joy of Momma Joyner host this breastfeeding meme every Tuesday and the topic is always different.

Once a month, the topic is just to post an update on how our breastfeeding journey is going.

The last update I posted at when Baby Jack was 5 months old. He is now over 7 months old and things have not changed much. He has not started solids yet… well not really. We’ve given him a few things here and there. He ate some strawberries last week in our Munchkin mesh feeder thingy. And Mike gives him bites of things here and there like mashed potatoes. But other than that, he is still exclusively breastfed.

First Time Trying Strawberries

I know that isn’t breadfeeding related… but I had to share.

Baby Jack is mostly eating at the same times a day as an older child would… breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack… and then bedtime and a few times in the middle of the night.

He has been falling into a bad habit of using me for a human pacifier all night long which is exhausting. I remember this stage with Gracie but with Gracie we started putting her in her crib around 7-ish month… and with Baby Jack we are still comfortable co-sleeping. I see no end to co-sleeping any time soon so I’m not sure what to do about the human pacifier thing. If I don’t let him use me, then he doesn’t sleep. He fusses. But if I let him – we sleep. Unfortunately, if I sleep with him attached to me, I get a back ache. Not good.

Any ideas?
Other than that, things are pretty normal and smooth. I see no end in near… YAY ME!

  1. YAY!!!! Congrats on making it this far and still going strong!! I am starting to think Addy is using me as a human pacifier too. She sleeps in her own room, but lately she’s been waking every 2-3 hours and I go get her, bring her into bed with us and nurse her back to sleep. I am praying this stage ends soon! 🙂 I have no suggestions, I don’t even know how to stop it here! 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up again!!

  2. I don’t have any suggestions but this post gets me so excited and anxious for my next breastfeeding journey to begin next month! I feel like I have so much more knowledge on it now and I hope that I am able to breastfeed for longer this time!
