Our Visit to Key Lime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort

Before telling you anything about Key Lime Cove, let me start by saying that Key Lime Cove is our new favorite “get away”!

We are a large family so our ‘so-called-vacations’ tend to be smaller “get aways” so that we can go more often than the typical once a year. We have not found anything worth wild near our home so we tend to hit Wisconsin Dells at least once a year.

I am so ecstatic to have found Key Lime Cove because it was much better than our trips to the Dells and so much closer too!

First, let me tell you all that Key Lime Cove has to offer…

  • 65,000 square foot indoor Lost Paradise Waterpark.
  • Always a balmy 82 degrees inside.
  • Two giant body slides that are each more than 500 feet long.
  • Two other giant slides, the Wahoo and Screaming Banshee
  • The Hurricane Vortex: a swirling whirlpool ride.
  • Tsunami Washout Wavepool
  • Toukie’s Big Deluge (huge water park area for kids to play & climb around)
  • KeyLime Creek (Lazy River)
  • Adults Only Whirlpool Area (but since I had a 2 year old suction cupped to me at all times, I did not get to experience they call “adults only”)
  • Play Pond (My FAVORITE!) – a gated area for the little one’s. A few little slides just their size and the water was shallow, so no worries!

  • Restaurants Include:
    • D.W. Anderson’s: old-fashioned authentic soda fountain, 1950’s décor, burgers, sandwiches, comfort foods like ice cream creations and they also serve breakfast.
    • The Crazy Toucan: Specializes in refreshing tropical drinks — for all ages! Serves everything from Jerk Chicken Salad and Pulled Pork Sandwiches to Toukie’s fresh seafood creations.
    • Island Temptations: Coffee and lots of fresh baked goods and sweet treats.
    • Anna Chovy’s Pizzeria:
    • Hot Diggety Dawgs: All-beef dogs and brats and of course fries and drinks too.
    • Sharky’s Big Bites: Everything from old-fashioned soft pretzels to burgers, fries, smoothies, and plenty of tasty snacks!
  • Entertainment Includes:
    • RipTide Reef Arcade
    • Leapin’ Lizards (Arts, crafts and games for all ages)
    • Pinki’s Pet Palace (Similar to Build-a-Bear)
    • The Crazy Toucan comes alive with island-inspired jams in the evening time.
    • The Enchanted Lagoon Kids Spa
    • Paradise Mist Spa (if you don’t have a 2 year old suction cupped to you 24/7)
  • Unique Shops:
    • Island Hoppers Outfitters: A souvenir shop with a little bit of everything.
    • LuLu’s Swim Shoppe: Everything swimwear related.
    • Mangrove Jack’s: A little bit of everything opened 24 hours a day!

We arrived after lunch and got changed right away down in the water park. We spent hours playing in the water and then we checked into our rooms.

We were given 2 adjoining room since we are such a large family. This worked out perfect. We left the adjoining room open so we could supervise. Each room had a large flat screen tv, fridge and of course two beds in each room. The rooms were comfy and bright.

That evening when we were all done swimming, we hung out in the arcade for a couple of hours (and went broke, haha). I am not sure who had more fun, Mike or the kids! When we were out of money done playing, we headed into the food court area and chose to eat at the Pizzeria and… Oh My Gosh… We LOVED that pizza!! They had an awesome special that beat any special we normally get at home! We got 2 Pizzas, wings and two 2 Liters of pop for an awesome price, much cheaper than at home!

We spent time window shopping that night too, there was so much to see.

The next morning, Gracie had to wake me up at her normal 6-something AM and demanded to eat, so the two of us headed out to the shops. We got cereal, fruit, muffins, juice, milk and coffee for me (don’t forget I am pregnant, and this stuff looked AMAZING!) We hung out on our little breakfast date and enjoyed a cute little table near the large picture window where we could watch families play down in the water park.

Eventually we made our way back to our room and the rest of the clan was finally up and ready to swim. I gave the older kids money to eat. They found their way to what they wanted while Gracie and I went to the water park. A little while later, the kids and Mike met us to swim.

We had a blast!

Here’s a little peek at our stay at Key Lime Cove

So there ya have it… this was a little peek at our time at Key Lime Cove.

I am absolutely in love with Key Lime Cove and so is my husband and kids. Everyone agreed that we love Key Lime Cove better than any other resort we have stayed at within a few hours of our home.

My favorite feature of Key Lime Cove is the fact that you arrive and never have to leave. Everything you could possibly need is inside of the hotel and there is absolutely no reason to leave at all! You have all of your entertainment and food in the same place as your hotel room – how perfect is that?!!

We had tons of fun in the water park since there were areas for the whole family. My teens had a blast while I hung out with Gracie in the little kid area.

And another great feature were the wrist bands. You got wrist bands when you checked in. You used these wrist bands for everything: Opening up your room door, entrance into the water park, the arcade and even shopping! It was so convenient!

If you are within a few hours from Gurnee, IL then I highly recommend visiting Key Lime Cove!

We can’t wait to go back!

Thanks Key Lime Cove!

  1. Looks like a great place to go. I love a good lazy river. Never heard of it but I will definitely check it out!

  2. Now that looks like so much fun. You know my dad had a summer home maybe 10 minutes from there. A very small lake called Huntley Lake. Is the water park near Six Flags. I was in Gurnee about a year and a half ago. How awesome to have an indoor water park to go to!
