OvaCue Fertility Monitor Review

OvaCue.1
Back in July, Mike and I finally decided to start trying to conceive a little brother or sister for Gracie. This little one will be our 6th child, my 5th pregnancy/child (our oldest is Mike’s daughter).
What baffles me is the fact that with my first four pregnancies, I had always gotten pregnant on my very first try. I am super fertile! I never had to “try” to get pregnant. We always made the decision and –BAM- I was pregnant and never got another period.
Until this time.
We started trying back in July with no luck.
Cycle after cycle with no luck.
This worried me. My mother started the beginning stages of menopause in her late 30’s. I am 36. I started to wonder if my age was playing into this difficulty TTC. Mike, my husband, is on diabetes meds and I was also wondering if that was playing a part in this difficulty.
Then I stumbled across the OvaCue Fertility Monitor from Fairhaven Health.OvaCue.2
The OvaCue Fertility Monitor is a saliva-based electronic fertility monitor that can predict your ovulation date up to seven days in advance by measuring the changes in the electrolyte concentration of your saliva.
Also available is a vaginal monitor which measures the electrolyte levels of your cervical mucus. This vaginal sensor will track trends in your hormone levels which will allow the monitor to identify the estrogen surge that occurs just prior to ovulation and the subsequent shift from estrogen dominance to progesterone dominance that occurs at the time of ovulation.
The OvaCue is perfect for all women with regular or irregular cycles.
The FDA-cleared OvaCue Fertility Monitor has been clinically proven to be 98.3% accurate in monitoring ovulation in studies sponsored by the National Institute of Health. Simply place a spoon-sized sensor on your tongue for five seconds each morning and the Ovacue will automatically record your fertile status for the day. The OvaCue tracks the readings in memory and indicates your most fertile days in an easy-to-read, color-coded calendar. OvaCue users also have access to OvaGraph, an online charting tool that can be used to graph your OvaCue readings, store an unlimited number of cycles, and much more.
Irregular cycles was my problem. I would shift from 23 to 29 day cycles. I was always calculating my most fertile day wrong… but I did not realize this until I started charting my cycle with the OvaCue Fertility Monitor.
You need to start using the OvaCue Fertility Monitor beginning on Cycle Day 2 (CD 2), and no later than Cycle Day 4 (CD 4). I began using the OvaCue on my cycle day 3 (CD 3). I used both the oral and the vaginal sensors. Immediately it was plain and simple to understand due to the color coded calendar customized to my cycle days.OvaCue.3
Not only do you have the color coded calendar on the monitor, but there are much more charting options available online and all for free.
You have the option to chart:
  • OvaCue Monitor Readings (Oral & Vaginal)
  • Basal Body Temperature
  • Ovulation Prediction Kit Readings
  • Ferning Test
  • Home Pregnancy Test Readings
  • Cervical Mucus Details
  • Cervical Position
  • Cervical Firmness
  • Menstruation Details
For my very first month charting, I chose to familiarize myself with the OvaCue Monitor only. I thought I would start slow, and then the following month I would start charting more.
This is what my OvaCue Chart looked like:
OvaCue Chart.1I know these chart are hard to see since I took a screen shot – but what is important is that pinkish/purple-ish box.
That is my most fertile day according to the OvaCue Monitor.
Here is my Cycle Information:  OvaCue Chart.2
As you can see, the colors range from white, to light blue to medium blue, to dark blue, to pink… then back to white. As you can also see, I skipped a couple of days using the vaginal sensor. The reason is that you do the oral reading first thing after you wake up. The vaginal I was doing just before bed. Unfortunately, I am a night owl and many days I was going to bed after midnight… so the vaginal readings were being put in my chart on the following day.
Here is an overview of the colors and their meanings:
  • White: Indicates not fertile
  • Light Blue: Indicates possible fertility
  • Medium Blue: Indicates high fertility (good day for intercourse)
  • Dark Blue: Indicates highest fertility (best day for intercourse)
  • Pink: Indicates Ovulation Confirmed if using Vaginal Sensor
Throughout my first month of using the OvaCue Fertility Monitor, I came to realize that I had been miscalculating my fertile days before using the monitor. This monitor showed me that I was predicting my fertile days to be up to a week behind my actual fertile time period. For starters, my cycle is never the same which makes prediction more complicated. Not only that, but in a typical cycle a woman ovulated around cycle day 14. This particular month, I did not.  This would be the reason why I was not getting pregnant.
I am happy to say that I love the OvaCue Fertility Monitor. It is so easy to use and I loved going online to keep track of my charts.
Another great feature of the website is the Forums. In the Forums you can chat with other who are using the OvaCue Fertility Monitor, those who are trying to conceive, becoming pregnant and everything in between.
Fairhaven Health sells not only the monitor but sells tons of fertility supplements, trying to conceive products and ‘products for him’ like supplements and Sperm Tests.
Fairhaven Health really has everything you will ever need for trying to conceive and there is no reason to go elsewhere.
I thank Sarah from Fairhaven Health from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity.

  19. I am new to this forum and have just started using ovacue today. I did expect the days on my ovacue calendar to turn white following first reading but it didn’t. Only today’s date turned white instead. Is this right? Or does it simply mean the reading was not taken properly? I ve also checked to see if the reading has been stored on the menu and it has. Can someone please tell me their experience when they newly started using ovacue. Did all days in their calender turn white following their first reading?
